What to Do with Your List When You Don’t Want to Work on Your List

June 24, 2009

Because I have a gazillion things on my list, but feeling a bit…uninspired by said list, I decided to do a quick makeover on it. You know, to inspire me. Anyone else out there feel like they’re developing adult ADD?

 Before, blah:

Before

After some mod-podge, lace, paper, ribbon (great tutorial here):

After

Sigh. That’s better. Now I think I’d better get down to crossing things off that list!

Wishing you all a lovely, inspired, productive day,
Audrey

She Smiles…..

June 22, 2009

Miss Chelsea totally had a blast getting her pictures taken. She knew how to ham it up for the camera, and she was PERFECT! Here are just a few from her session for now….

In the end, it’s not what we know, but what we do that makes a difference. (Talking to myself here…)

Ann Marie

June 19, 2009

Here are the more to come…This is one of my beautiful Sisters-in-Law, Ann Marie.  I am glad that we were able to get a session in for her before she headed back to California. We had a great time taking pictures of her and her daughter Chelsea.

I love this one of her and Chelsea….they were having fun!

A Discovery

June 18, 2009

Mama

We were working on the lawn the other evening, when the kids noticed a crazy little bird out near the end of the driveway. It kept running toward them, tweeting loudly, turning and spreading its wings and tail feathers while running the other direction, all the while setting up as big a racket as it could. Very dramatic.

Danger

It didn’t take long for the detectives of the house to figure out why.

Discovery

Eggs

At first, I thought the bird was not very intelligent–I mean, who lays eggs in a driveway? Trees seem like a much safer bet to me. But, in the interest of presenting factual information here, I Googled it, and it turns out Killdeer generally DO lay their eggs on the ground. Go figure! Regardless, we had a fun time watching that funny mama bird try to lead us away from her little nest, she was quite the entertainer.

As I write this, I realize I’m on a learn-random-information-about-animals kick lately…last week I Googled  ‘how long does it take for a cat to digest a mouse’  after watching our cat swallow a mouse in less than thirty seconds. Very interesting. I heart Google.

ta-ta-for-now,

Is the song that goes thru my head when I see this picture. Here is a quick sneak peak of a maternity session I did this week. More to come….

BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad

June 16, 2009

BBQSalad

My friend Cammi gave me the recipe for this a-mazing salad last year, and I can’t get enough of it…it’s so yummy, and so perfect for summer!

BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad
1/2 head romaine lettuce
1/2 head iceburg lettuce
cilantro (to taste)
fresh basil (2-3 leaves, but I’ve also made it without and it’s still good)
1 c. white corn
1 c. black beans
1 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
tortilla strips (you can find these in the produce section with other salad toppings)
chopped tomatoes (optional)
chicken, cooked & chopped
BBQ sauce (mmm…Sweet Baby Ray’s, that’s all I have to say about that)
ranch dressing

Prepare the chicken by covering it with BBQ sauce after it is cooked and chopped, and let it chill in the refrigerator. Chop the lettuces into strips and combine with chopped cilantro and basil. Stir in corn, beans, and cheese. Just before serving, stir in about 1 cup of tortilla strips and toss with a small amount of ranch dressing. Top the salad with the BBQ chicken and drizzle the salad with a little extra BBQ sauce.

Enjoy,
Audrey

Diapers and Wipes Cases

June 15, 2009

Since my baby girl arrived, I have wanted to make a LOT of different things. I am just loving it all.  I have been gradually making a list of the things that I want to attempt.  Here is one project that I got done this week. I love how they turned out!   I got the pattern for the diaper case from Audrey, and I found a wipes tutorial here

The Sewing Corner

June 13, 2009

That’s right. Sage Meadow Studio could rightfully be called Sage Meadow Sewing Corner. Long story short, my sewing and design area/office was once a large closet, and measures approximately 12 feet by 5 feet…it has to pack a punch in a small footprint. The room has been something short of inspiring for a long time, so over the Memorial Day weekend, I tackled several little projects to pull it together a bit and help me feel more centered and focused. I started with the box liner/covers, and had my sister-in-law put together the inspirational message I wanted/needed:

CreateEveryday

I was in dire need of a good way to visually store my ribbon stash, and when I saw this storage idea in a recent issue of Creating Keepsakes, I knew I’d found it!

Button Cutoffs

June 11, 2009

It’s that time of year again: we need summer clothes. I’m in a make-what-I-have-work-frame-of-mind lately, so I decided to see how many different ways I can do cutoffs for the girls. Here’s version number one, for Miss J. (who says it’s just too cold and rainy to wear shorts…sadly, she’s right, but I made them anyway):
